When I began my Sea Urchin Series, it was in response to my desire to loosen up my painting style and experiment with color, and texture and to just have fun exploring.
As a high school Art teacher I had been introducing art journalling practices in my classroom and encouraged my students to explore art journalling for the sake of having fun and in a space where it didn't have to be "perfect". I decided to follow my own advice and the Sea Urchin Series is the result.
