Hatching
I began this painting when I was expecting my youngest son. When my oldest son was born I had painted a mural on his nursery wall, but by the time the second was due to arrive, we we thinking of selling our first home. I wanted to create something special for him, but wanted to be able to take it with us when we moved. I also wanted him to be able to, one day, display it in his home. It had to be something that was timeless, would work in his nursery, and in any other room of the home, yet reflect the beautiful experience of his birth.
"Hatching" is the result.
The hatched egg represents his birth. The nest represents a mother nurturing her babies until it is time to let them befree to find their own way.
